What Therapy With Me Looks Like

I focus sessions on listening to you as a whole person including your cultural story, systemic oppressions, and how you can reengage with your personal cultural healing practices as YOU define them to be.

My Therapy Approaches

I will work to shift therapy to fit you, not put you into a mold of what someone says therapy is “supposed” to be.

Relational Cultural Therapy (RCT)

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

CBT for Anxiety

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

No topic or concern is off limits; come to sessions as you are to process what YOU want to process.

I have over ten years’ experience in providing therapy, crisis services, community mental health, college counseling, and suicide intervention training services. I focus my therapeutic work in three general areas of the counseling field: teaching, healing, and community wellness.

About Me:

My name is Dr. Ana Salazar but please call me “Dr. Ana”. I am a Latina, an anti-racist Counselor, a mother, counselor educator, LGBTQIA+ advocate, and mom to fur-babies.

I believe in the power of healing & therapy so much I am not afraid to share that I’ve done my own therapy as a client and I’ve also been in couples’ therapy.

Obviously, some topics are off limits like my kid and what I went to therapy for, but if it’s important for you to feel safe in our work together, I’ll answer questions about myself, my beliefs, and my work.

Miscellaneous About Me:

My friends think I’m funny, but usually I’m just a GenX speaking truth. I’m not great at social media even though I use it. (@dr.ana.lpcs)

I read way too much; I can absolutely devour a huge novel in a long weekend. I don’t understand the hype around “romantasy” but maybe because I love fantasy & science fiction? (Octavia Butler, Robert Jordan, etc.).

I also know it’s bad for my energy and for survivors, so I’m weeding out my crime podcasts and documentaries because I was obsessed (and not sleeping!) I still enjoy stories of survival, however.

I am also proud to be a first generation college graduate, joining the 1% of Latinas in the United States to have a Ph.D.

Wellness comes from within - We’re here to help you strengthen it.
